Growing Small

Expansion is ubiquitous. Be it a species or an organization or the whole universe. But as something grows there is always a chance of erosion on the flanks. This occurs due to following reasons -
.. It becomes difficult for the controlling force to monitor all parts of the system.
.. It make the system an easy target.
.. It becomes difficult for the surrounding to accommodate the system.

This is why we do not grow more than a specific size but we multiply. What all this means is that fragmentation is the key for growing.
